Competition Format

The competition consists of a Preliminary Round and a Final Round, both performed live.

Piano accompaniment will be provided by the festival for the Preliminary Round.


👉 Final Round Theme: Stamitz

All selected finalists will perform the first movement of Stamitz’s Viola Concerto in D major in the Final Round, accompanied by chamber orchestra at the Andermatt Concert Hall.

Age Categories and Repertoire Requirements

Preliminary Round


Group 1 – Children & Youth (up to 17 years)To be eligible for the Final Round, candidates must include:the first movement of Stamitz’s Viola Concerto in D major)

Two contrasting works, max. 15 minutes


Group 2 – Young Artists (18+ years)
Required for Final Round eligibility: the first movement of Stamitz’s Viola Concerto in D major

Two contrasting works, max. 18 minutes
