Haoming Xie

Violin

Haoming Xie is winning plaudits in China and abroad for his affectionate performance and brilliant rich tone. Following his performance of the Tchaikovsky Concerto, the New York Concert Review described Xie’s performance “mightily impressive”, "had lovely tempo contrasts, dynamic and tone variation, and sensitivity to peaks of phrases”.

 

A prodigious talent, Xie rose to prominence at 17 by winning the firstprize in National Violin Competition of China. His triumph at the quadrennial International Violin Competition of Indianapolis where he secured the Prize Laureate alongside awards for Best Performance of  Sonata and Best Performance of Ysaÿe Sonata established him as the one of the highest-achieving Chinese violinist of his generation.

 

In past seasons, Xie has performed as a soloist, with many major orchestras including China Philharmonic Orchestra, China National Radio & Film Symphony Orchestra, China Opera Orchestra, Beijing Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Nouve Musiche Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Armenian National Symphony Orchestra and others. He has also toured China, Europe, Japan, South Korea in recital and performed as guest artist at music festivals including Beijing International Music Festival, Shanghai Spring International Music Festival, Beijing Modern Music Festival, Copenhagen International Music Festival, Ravello Music Festival, Romagna Music Festival, Ljubljana Music Festival, Khachaturian International Music Festival, etc.. Conductors with whom he works include Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Irwin Hoffman, Zhang Guoyong, Tan Lihua, Li Xincao, Yang Yang, Chen Lin, Huang Yi, Zhu Hui, Samuel Wong. 

 

In recent seasons, Xie’s commitment and passion for 20th centurymusic. He has given multiple performances of Bela Bartok’s violin concerto, and recorded Ysaye’s Six Sonatas for Violin Solo which is the first complete recordings of this volume made and released in China. 

 

Xie studied at the Central Conservatory of Music with Lin Yao-Ji, Chai Liang, Yu Bing and Tong Weidong and with Joel Smirnoff and Jaime Laredo at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Xie also received instruction from renowned violinists Pinchas Zukerman, Augustin Dumay, Cho-Liang Lin, Midori and others.

 

In July 2013, Xie became one of the youngest artists to be appointed to the faculty of the Central Conservatory of Music, for the age of 23.Xie is the recipient of China’s prestigious National High-level Personnel of Special Support Program. Xie was also selected as one of the national outstanding violinist nominated by Chinese Musicians Association.

 

Xie performs with the F. Voirin bow (c. 1880), and plays the Carlo Bergonzi from 1730, generously sponsored by the China Music Foundation in Hong-Kong.
