Italian oboist Domenico Orlando has been Principal Oboe of the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig since 2009. Prizewinner of several prestigious competitions, including the Tomassini di Petritoli Competition and the Tokyo International Competition, he has appeared in renowned concert halls such as La Scala in Milan and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.
He regularly performs with leading orchestras and has collaborated with distinguished conductors including Andris Nelsons, Herbert Blomstedt, Antonio Pappano and Kent Nagano.
Alongside his performing career, Orlando is active as a teacher and gives masterclasses internationally. Since the winter semester 2021/22 he has been Professor of Oboe at the University of Music Würzburg (HfM Würzburg).
