
Gábor Varga

Hungarian clarinetist Gábor Varga was born in 1974 and studied at the University of Szeged, the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest, and the Paris Conservatoire, where he completed postgraduate studies in 2002.
He has held principal clarinet positions with leading orchestras including the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra, Concerto Budapest, the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. As a soloist, he has appeared in major concert halls such as the Musikverein in Vienna and the Gewandhaus in Leipzig and has performed in more than 25 countries worldwide.
A dedicated advocate of contemporary music, Varga has premiered numerous new works and collaborated with leading composers. He regularly gives masterclasses internationally and currently serves as Associate Professor of Clarinet at the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University.
